8 women parliamentarians from Pakistan

On behalf and together with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC, PolitExchange is welcoming a delegation of 8 women parliamentarians from Pakistan. The parliamentarians are part of the Women Parliamentary Caucus of the Parliamentary Assembly of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Together with UN Women, Swiss Development Cooperation is supporting the work of the Women Parliamentary Caucus to increase women’s political empowerment, and pass legislation on gender related issues, particularly on domestic violence.

The aim of the visit is to understand how the parliaments are working in Switzerland, get inspiration from Swiss practice, and exchange with peers. Between 6 and 14 September, Swiss experts from the federal parliament and the cantonal parliament of Berne will share their experience. The group will also meet gender specialists from the federal as well as cantonal level. The participants will have the opportunity to exchange with experienced politicians from the Capital Region Switzerland. The group will also travel to Geneva to meet human rights and gender specialists of the UN as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
